Battery Consumer Alert! Some of our Corporate customers have called concerned about a HUGE number of Refurbished and Old batteries floating around the market being sold and advertised as New. Refurbished means it is refurbished to "like new" condition. Li-Ion batteries have a short shelf life and if you receive old stock you could be buying another in just a few months. In the case of this Brand Battery, there is no way to distinguish a Refurbished from a New battery. You are forced to trust the retailer! Of course we want your business, but our reason for this statement is clear. We believe consumers should be told the TRUE facts and then make an informed purchasing decision. Batteries are all that we do. Our stock is rotated about every two weeks and our warranty proves it. We do sell some Refurbished batteries on rare occasion, but they are always CLEARLY marked. Refurbished batteries are fine, if they are fresh, properly tested and the retailer informs you. Things to watch for are short warranties, to good to be true prices, missing return policies, etc.. Make sure the retailer is located in the USA (you would be suprised), as many batteries are being sold from outside this country. Finally, make sure they are really selling a BRAND and not just showing a picture of one. This consumer alert statement is our opinion only, not the Dell company. Web shoppers are smart consumers, now you got a little more amunition. Thanks! |

Compatible Batteries: There are four (4) different batteries avaiable for your Dell laptop/notebook computer. If the description says "Compatible", then it is a battery that is made by one of our trusted manufacturers and is NOT made by Dell or branded by Dell. These are very good batteries and they are designed to work with your computer. Our manufacturers use only quality cells of top brands such as Panasonic, LG, Samsung, etc. They also include short circuit and heat protection. These batteries often out perform the Original batteries in life and laptop run time. In fact, many of our regular customers will never go back to the OEM after using these. Original Batteries: If the description says "Original", then it is a Dell Branded battery just like the one they would sell you if you purchased directly from Dell. Also known as OEM. We have been selling the Original batteries for several years (8 to be exact) and we are a trusted souce for a more economical alternative. All stock is New, not refurbished, used, or blemished. We rotate our stock often. Which One is Better? Original Brand (OEM) or Compatible?: That is a tough question to answer. Some customers like having the same battery that the manufacturer sells them and feel more comfortable with a Brand that they have already used. We believe in over all life, the Compatible is better then the Original brand, however there are occasions where a little extra effort on the buyers part is required to use a Compatible battery. All Li-Ion (latest technology) batteries must communicate with the laptop in order to function (charge and discharge properly). The laptop must have the latest Bios available from Dell in order for the Compatible battery to be recognized, charged and used. The Bios can be downloaded for free from the manufacturers website and is very easy to install. Anyone selling compatible batteries should tell you this or they are not being honest. The Bios is normally fine and you will never have update it to use a Compatible battery, however it is sometimes needed. The Original batteries have a tendency to be more forgiving and rarely ever need a Bios update. Run time (how long it runs your laptop) is usually longer with a Compatible in the same size case. Below is a short Question and Answer excercise which may help you decide: 1) Do you require the Dell Brand be on the battery? Yes - Buy the Original No - Continue on to next question. 2) Do you have the time and/or have the skill (easy) to update the Bios in your computer if needed? No - Buy the Original Yes - Continue on to next question 3) If you have made it this far we believe you would be statisfied using either the Original or the Compatible. We can tell you that the Originals have been a great batteries for us over the years and our Compatible battery is much better then any other Compatible on the market. Which Capacity is Better, 6 Cell or 9 Cell? Your laptop/Notebook can use either battery. The number of Cells in a battery directly relates to capacity and how long the battery will run your laptop. Just like a bigger capacity gas tank may allow your car to go more miles between fill ups. The 9 Cell version has about 33% longer run time. However the 9 Cell is physically bigger with the extra 3 Cells contained in the non-removable wrist rest (see picture on product page). Some people do not like the bigger battery, however the 9 Cell is the most popular battery because the extra run time is well worth it. You do not need to buy a different AC Power Adapter, your current one will work fine.
